Faroe Islands

Remote and mysterious. Rugged and dramatic still yet so beautiful. Its like being in an episode of Game of Thrones. The Faroe Islands has a magnetic attraction for landscape photographers, and for a good reason. Battered by the elements, towering cliffs rise from the deep sea. Huge waves are constantly pounding the shoreline, creating amazing formations. Isolated in the Atlantic Ocean, halfway between Norway and Iceland,  National Geographic named the Faroe Islands the most authentic and unspoiled group of islands in the world. This comes as no surprise to us. Dynamic, constantly changing light and weather makes these islands magical for photography. We can experience 4 seasons in an hour. One moment it might be raining, the next we have warm sunshine on our faces. Turn around and it might be snowing or hailing.  Its fascinating and beautiful.

This workshop will focus on the art of creating timeless images mostly based on long exposure photography techniques. We will give lessons in use of filters and how to create simple yet captivating compositions. Our post-processing sessions will focus on keeping things simple. If youre not into long exposures or monochrome images, we still recommend this trip highly, as you are free to do your own thing 100%.

With regards to an itinerary, we do not have a fixed itinerary/tour program on our tours and workshops. The Faroe Islands is extremely unpredictable because of it’s many local weather systems. This means conditions can change within minutes and kilometres. Thats why we always are working through a very flexible schedule, but locations such as Gjógv, Gásadalur, Sørvágsvatn, Saksun, Tjørnuvík, Funningur, Nordradalur and Sornfelli plus many more are on our list. It’s a full on photography tour/workshop – so the activities are planned around sunrise, sunset and night photography excursions. The whole archipelago is packed with locations, so the weather and light conditions will decide where we will go.
